Graduated from the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar in Industrial Chemical Engineering, specialization in Tecnology, Master’s degree from the University of Aveiro in Instrumental Methods and Analytical Quality Control and PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of Salamanca. Professionally he was an Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2016 and a Professor since 2016. He was director of Associate/Foundation degrees in Environmental Quality from 2013 to 2019. He is a member of the Technology, Restoration and Art Enhancement Center (Techn&Art), IPT and publishes scientific peer-reviewed papers and develops scientific work in the fields of salt weathering of buildings and stone sculptures, cleaning of stone materials using chelants, ecotoxicological testing and mine tailings remediation. Has done peer-reviewing work for the International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education.
